Are You a Positive Person?

Hello Church Family! I wanted to share something different but that is close to my family in this season, more specifically my parents. My dad is in end-stage kidney failure, preparing for dialysis. My mom wrote the following to tell you how you can be praying, and more. We appreciate your support in this season, and God is good! – Phillip

Many of you know that my husband, Chris, is facing the outcome of a genetic disorder called Polycystic Kidney Disease. After worsening over the years, his kidneys are now covered in cysts that are drastically reducing their functionality and ability to filter. He needs a kidney transplant or will need to start dialysis in the next few months.

We serve a God that tells us to approach Him boldly in prayer and a God who encourages us to bring needs before the body that they might help one another. God tells us in Luke 3:11, “Anyone who has two shirts should share with the one who has none, and anyone who has food should do the same.” While a shirt is not the same as an organ by any means, you only need one kidney to live a healthy life. Phillip and I were both evaluated to donate to Chris. We are both a match, but neither of us are suitable candidates because of our unusual number of arteries.

Back to the question. “Are you a positive person?” More specifically: O-Positive for Chris. If you feel the call to become a donor, there are 74 people in Tulsa who are on the transplant list and desperately need a kidney. Even if you aren’t an “O”, you may be a match for someone else. The number is: 918-744-3653 or you can email Holly Wall, holly.wall@ascension.org. Just let them know you are interested in becoming a donor for Christopher White. The evaluation is at NO cost, our insurance covers ALL expenses. In the meanwhile, we cherish your prayers for a suitable match and for successful dialysis if a match isn’t found in time. Either way, God has got this and He is still on the THRONE! – Cindy
